Mitoyo Family Support Center

The Mitoyo Family Support Center, or Famisapo, is a paid volunteer organization for temporary, mutual childcare support, and is made up of local people who want to help in the raising of children and those who need childcare help. The center assumes the role of connecting people who need help and people who want to help.

Famisapo Mechanism

We can help: ◎

  • Pick up and drop off children at preschools or daycares and care for children after school hours;
  • Care for children during ceremonial occasions or school events;
  • Babysit; and
  • Care for children while parents look for a job or receive job training, among others.

We cannot: ×

Take custody and provide accommodations for a child;
Pick up and drop off a sick or recovering child;
Do housework; or
Care for a group of children.

*As a rule we ensure that children are safely transferred from one adult to another adult.


Registered Requesters

(people who want to ask for childcare assistance):

  • Live or work in Mitoyo-shi; and
  • Have a child between six months old and the sixth year of elementary school.

Registered Requesters/Helpers:

May ask for childcare assistance or assist someone else in childcare.

Registered Helpers

(people who wish to provide childcare assistance):

  • 20 years old or older and live in Mitoyo-shi;
  • Are mentally and physically healthy and basically able to care for a child at home; and
  • Have completed the registered helper training course.
